The first joint session of the Russian-Chinese Business Council took place on October 15, 2004 in Beijing. The Vice-premier of the Russian Federation A. Zhukov was present at this session and he noted: “Today it is especially necessary, that the enterprise organizations of Russia and China should announce new trade and economic, scientific and technical directions of cooperation together. This would make a real contribution to the further development of Russian-Chinese relations based on ensuring national interests of our friendly countries.

The second joint session of Russian-Chinese Business Council was held on March 28, 2007 in Moscow within the limits of official events for the Year of China in Russia and the visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao to the Russian Federation.

The third joint session of Russian-Chinese Business Council was held on May 23, 2008 in Beijing during the first state visit of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev to the People's Republic of China.

Today Russian and Chinese parts of RCBC unite more than 100 major Russian and Chinese companies and enterprises, which have mutual interests in both countries. At the present moment at direct support of Russian part of RCBC more than 20 large-scale Russian-Chinese projects are being realized in the field of mechanical engineering, metallurgy, aircraft constructions, transport, an agriculture, construction of industrial targets, electrical engineering, nanotechnologies for a total sum more than 5,6 billion dollars.
