JSC STEPPE Agroholding
STEPPE Agroholding is one of the largest agricultural companies in the South of Russia. The total land bank area of the company is 578 thousand hectares. The main production crop is wheat.
The agroholding develops its business in six key areas: crop production, dairy farming, production of grocery products, horticulture, and is also the leading producer of packaged cheese in Russia and processed cheese for the HoReCa segment. The company’s main assets are located in the South of Russia, in the regions most favorable in terms of climate, yield and logistics — Krasnodar Krai, Stavropol Krai, and Rostov Oblast. STEPPE is among the leaders of the agricultural sector in digitalization.
The annual average gross harvest of agricultural crops is over 2 million tons, with more than 1 million tons being wheat. The company operates its own breeding center, which produces 30 thousand tons of elite seeds of winter wheat and spring barley, seeds of the first and second reproduction of flax, peas, and chickpeas for internal supply and commercial sale.
STEPPE is the leader in Russia in dairy productivity of cows according to the National Union of Milk Producers (Soyuzmoloko) and is among the top four largest producers of raw milk in the country. Gross milk yield at the end of 2024 amounted to 267 thousand tons (+21% year‑on‑year). STEPPE Agroholding has seven dairy farms.
The company produces grocery products under its own brand, which features a wide range of cereals and snacks. The products are sold on the shelves of the country’s largest retail chains: Auchan, Lenta, Pyaterochka, Perekrestok, etc., as well as on the largest marketplaces OZON, Yandex Market, and others.
The agroholding has 756 hectares of intensive‑type orchards in Krasnodar Krai. The annual harvest averages about 30 thousand tons. Having its own fruit storage facility allows it to store up to 23 thousand tons of produce throughout the year, which guarantees year‑round supplies and ensures independence from seasonal price fluctuations.
In addition, the company provides elevator services. STEPPE Agroholding owns four elevator complexes with a total storage capacity of more than 500 thousand tons.
The company is actively pursuing an import substitution program. Currently, the share of Russian agricultural machinery in the fleet of STEP exceeds 83%, and the share of plant protection products is about 95%. The company uses domestic wheat seeds — the main production crop — as well as exclusively Russian hybrids of sugar beet, confectionery and oilseed sunflower, chickpeas, flax, mustard, spring barley, alfalfa, and other crops.
