Russian Fishery Company
RFC is today one of the largest fishing companies in Russia. By 2025, RFC plans to become the world’s largest wild white fish harvesting company with an annual catch volume of approximately 500 thousand tonnes per year.
Currently, the company’s main product is headed pollock, which is used as raw material by Chinese processors, mainly around Qingdao and Dalian. They produce pollock fillets from Russian headed pollock and re-export them (primarily to the EU). Only a small part of the products remains in China for domestic consumption.
RFC is building a new fleet: 11 vessels with an investment of over $1 billion. The new fleet will allow the transition from producing frozen fish raw material to producing high value-added products on board vessels: pollock fillets, surimi, pollock roe, fish oil, etc. This high-quality product will be offered not to Chinese processors focused on exports, but to Chinese consumers: retail chains, restaurants, fast food chains.
In order to integrate final processing into B2C products, promote products, develop and expand the RFC brand in the Chinese market, the company is interested in finding 1-2 strategic long-term partners. An example of such a partnership is one of the largest salmon producers in Norway, Leroy, and COFCO, which became the exclusive distributor of Leroy in China.
